Dr. Jamal Nasir, Punjab's provincial minister for elementary and secondary health, remarked that World Thalassemia Day is observed on May 8 to raise global awareness of Thalassemia.
The government would provide comprehensive medical assistance to thalassemia patients. He added that all thalassemia child screenings and tests would be free the next week, and that vaccination would ensure full recovery for all sick children. He urged for charitable institutions to do more to help thalassemia youngsters.
"Thalassemia is a fatal and genetic disease, and not only the patient but also his family members go through painful phases during this disease." Dr. Jamal Nasir stated.
