Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, has seen his position rise in the most recent ICC Men's Test rankings. This comes after an amazing 2-0 victory for his squad in the extended format of the game over Sri Lanka.
Babar, who is well known for being a superb batter, has moved up two spots to take over fourth place in the rankings.
Three more outstanding athletes are positioned ahead of Babar: Steve Smith from Australia is third, Joe Root from England is second, and Kane Williamson from New Zealand is currently in first place.
Following the team's victory in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, a few of Pakistan's players have made significant progress in the rankings. Abdullah Shafique has climbed 27 positions to rank 21st, Mohammad Rizwan has climbed four spots to tie for 29th, and Agha Salman has climbed 23 positions to rank 35th.
Their bowlers also received praise, with emerging pacer Naseem Shah moving up seven slots to tie for 37th and left-arm spinner Noman Ali moving up 13 spaces to 42nd.
