The team for the forthcoming ODI series against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup was unveiled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday.
Inzamam-ul-Haq, the recently appointed chief selector, announced the team during a news conference at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Shan Masood, who earlier this year replaced Shadab Khan as vice-captain, has been dismissed from the squad. In the ODI format, Saud Shakeel received a callback and will only be available for selection in the Afghanistan series.
"Last management offered Shan opportunities, but he couldn't deliver. We decided to give Saud a chance because of his outstanding performance, Inzamam told the press.

A 17-player side will compete in the Asia Cup, which gets underway on August 30 when Pakistan plays Nepal, and will compete against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka from August 22 to August 26.
Saud played in his first ODI against England in 2021, while his last 50-over match was against Australia in March of the previous year. He recently made a double-century for Pakistan against Sri Lanka in the Galle Test, salvaging the match. He was called back into the national ODI squad as a result of his outstanding performance.
The ODI team for the Afghanistan series and the Asia Cup also includes Faheem Ashraf, who last participated in an ODI in 2021.
The national men's selection committee, which also comprises Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Hassan Cheema (secretary), and Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam met to discuss the squad.
