The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has enhanced its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to address dual registration and misidentification difficulties.
As part of the upgrading, NADRA implemented the IRIS system, which uses eye biometric authentication technology in addition to facial and fingerprint recognition as the third means of identification.
The IRIS technology is being tested in large cities like Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.
According to NADRA, installing this advanced technology will prevent identity theft and assure continued identity protection for individuals. People can have more confidence in the security and accuracy of their personal information if double registration is eliminated and the possibility of misidentification is reduced.
