Scientists unveiled a remarkable camera in 2023 that is capable of taking the largest and most detailed images ever. It was created to explore space, analyse galaxies, and discover dark matter for the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) at Chile's Rubin Observatory. They tested the camera on vegetables before it was launched into orbit, and it demonstrated how well it could perceive weak light in space.

The 189 individual light sensors in the camera, which is the size of an SUV, each have a 16 megapixel sensor. A camera with over 3,000 megapixels was produced by combining these sensors, which is a significant quantity. Because of the camera's excellent resolution, a golf ball can be seen from a distance of around 15 miles away.

To make this incredible camera, a talented group under the direction of mechanical engineer Hannah Pollek was required. She claimed it was a difficult task, but they were successful in creating something amazing.
