According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), no decision has been taken on the reopening of famous social networking sites in the country.
While mobile broadband services have been fully restored nationally with no limits on internet access, customers continue to be unable to access platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
The temporary suspension of social media sites followed violent rallies organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters protesting the detention of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. As a result, the PTA restricted access to these platforms across the country.
However, the PTA has underlined that no final decision on lifting the restriction on social media sites has been made. The authorities are still examining the situation and weighing many aspects before deciding whether or not to reopen these platforms.
