The Establishment Division responded in writing to the National Assembly's request for data on candidates who took the Central Superior Services (CSS) Examination three years before on Friday.
Data on candidates who passed and failed included information from 2019, 2020, and 2021. According to data from the preceding three years, at least 54.53% of candidates failed in Urdu, the language of Pakistan.
At least 30% of pupils failed the Urdu test in 2019, but that percentage increased to 59% and 73% in 2020 and 2021, respectively, according to the Establishment Division. The failure percentage overall over the last three years was 54.53%.
The assembly was informed that 35,000 out of 49,500 applicants failed English in 2019, resulting in a success percentage of 73%. The success percentages were 39% and 92%, respectively, in 2020 and 2021.
37% of candidates failed the Pakistan Affairs topic in 2019, 71% did so in 2020, and 46% did so in 2021. Islamiat candidates were unsuccessful 18% of the time in 2019, 51% in 2020, and 81% of the time in 2021.
