Another Muslim Country, Turkey, Has Joined The Club Of Countries With Nuclear Weapons.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claims that Turkey has entered the exclusive group of nations with nuclear power by putting nuclear fuel into the Akkuyu power plant's first generating unit.

Turkey has reportedly joined the club of countries with nuclear power by transferring nuclear fuel into the first power unit of the Akkuyu power plant, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Due to the transportation of nuclear fuel to our facility by sea and air, Akkuyu now holds the status of a nuclear power plant. So, despite a 60-year delay, our nation has joined the nuclear club, Erdogan declared at a ceremony where Russian President Vladimir Putin was also present via video link.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the state-run nuclear energy company Rosatom is constructing the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in the province of Mersin along the southern Mediterranean coast. Turkey's first nuclear power plant will be this one.

"This is a flagship project, and it brings mutual economic benefits and, of course, helps to strengthen the multifaceted partnership between our two states," Putin continued.

The Russian president said Erdogan "personally pays great attention to the expansion of Russian-Turkish relations."
