It may sound like something out of science fiction movies: humans operating equipment with their minds.
However, thanks to brain-computer interfaces, it is now a reality. At the exhibition area of the 2023 Zhongguancun (ZGC) Forum, held in Beijing from May 25 to 30, advanced brain-computer interface technology was on display, including brain-controlled remote control, brain-controlled drone, and brain-controlled robot skeleton.
However, some people could be concerned about the possibility of device hacking, uneven access to BCI technology, and unknowable long-term physical impacts. Now the issue is, are we prepared?
A brain-computer interface (BCI) is a tool that transforms neural data into instructions that can operate outside software or hardware, such a computer or robotic arm. BMI is frequently used as a tool to help persons with motor or sensory impairments live independently.
