As Captain, Babar Azam Set A Record For The Highest Batting Average (75.17) In ODIs
Babar Azam is said to have been the best player in the last ten years. He will lead the team on its 2019 tour of Australia.

The best player over the previous ten years has reportedly been Babar Azam. He was named the captain for the Australia tour in 2019. This choice is criticised by several cricket gurus who claim that it could hurt his batting career.

Babar quickly established his abilities as a superb batter and captain in just 11 months. The Pakistan Cricket Board and former captain and head coach Misbah ul Haq appointed him skipper of One-Day matches after observing his remarkable leadership abilities.

Babar won five of the 14 games in which he captured the Pakistani team up until January 2021. It is clear that the PCB needed someone compatible to lead the team in Test matches because Sarfraz Ahmad was a solid captain but was out of form and Azhar Ali was also having trouble. Babar was named the captain for all formats in January 2021.
