Due to the date falling on the first day of the Navratri festival, the Pakistan vs. India match at the 2018 ODI World Cup in Ahmedabad is probably going to be postponed.
Nine days are dedicated to the Navratri celebration, which is conducted in honour of the Hindu goddess Durga.
A top official from India's cricket board, who did not want to be named, told The Indian Express, "We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs. Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri.
The official stated, "We are considering our options, and a decision will be made soon."
The Indian Express noted that all of the associations hosting World Cup games would meet in New Delhi on July 27 (tomorrow), at the request of Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah.
The article described Shah's letter as adding, "I feel it will be in the best interest of all concerned that we meet again to exchange notes and take stock of any issue which needs discussion and decision."
The Indian Express said that "it is learned that the board might inform the members of the security concerns around Ahmedabad and finalise a new date for the match."
NDTV stated that the BCCI has previously given the International Cricket Council (ICC) a request regarding the alteration in the schedule.
After the tournament's opening match between hosts England and New Zealand on October 5 at the largest cricket stadium in the world in Ahmedabad, the most anticipated match was scheduled to take place there on October 15.
India will host Pakistan's cricket squad for the first time in seven years during the encounter between the two cricketing rivals.
Due to Pakistan's refusal to visit India, the tournament's schedule had been released weeks late. However, after Pakistan agreed to host the Asia Cup in September using a hybrid format, a truce was declared.
