According to a statement from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today to observe the sighting of the crescent moon for Eid ul Fitr—the Ministry, which manages religious matters in the nation.
The moon's appearance signals the conclusion of Ramadan and the start of the Islamic festival of Eid ul Fitr. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee made up of scholars and professionals in the field of religion, will assemble to evaluate the crescent's visibility and issue a formal declaration regarding the beginning of Eid ul Fitr.
A meeting will be held in Islamabad's Ministry of Religious Affairs office. It will be presided over by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the head of the Ruet-e-Halal Committee.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the zonal committees will convene at predetermined places around the nation. The central meeting, which Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will chair, will take place in the ministry's headquarters in Islamabad, according to the release.
Following a moment of misunderstanding at the moonsighting meeting, Ramadan 2023 started on March 23. There was significant uncertainty and anxiety in the run-up to the holy month of Ramadan since the start date of Ramadan had been a source of discussion and contention within the religious community. But as soon as the moon sighting was confirmed, Ramadan was formally observed by Muslims throughout the nation.
