KARACHI - Since July 25, 86 people have died in Pakistan as a result of the continuing monsoon rains, according to a report released on Tuesday by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
In a statement, the authority claimed that in the previous 24 hours, six fatalities and nine injuries had been reported, with three of the deaths occurring in both Sindh and Punjab.
According to statistics, 52 people died in Punjab, followed by 20 people who died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six people who died in Balochistan, five people who died in Sindh, and three people who died in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The NDMA reported that since June 25, at least 37 children, 33 men, and 16 women have perished in various rain-related accidents. 151 additional people were hurt when a rainy spell gripped several regions.
It also stated that 97 homes in total have been harmed by monsoon rains and floods in various parts of the nation.
In the meantime, the NDMA made predictions about the medium to high flood danger at Jassar in the River Ravi and the moderate flood risk in the River Chenab.
In communities at risk of flooding along the banks of the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers, as well as associated nullahs, it has instructed the PDMA, Punjab, to guarantee early warning, fast response, and evacuations.
Due to the moderate flood danger in certain rivers, the NDMA has issued following guidelines.
Additionally, it has instructed district administrations to quickly dewater metropolitan areas that are at risk of floods with backup traffic plans.
